Strawberry Lime Popsicles for a Happy Belly

Food and mood don’t just rhyme. They are very closely related. So close you don’t always notice they are connected. A few weeks ago, I taught a workshop at Natural Grocers called, “Why Am I Toxic?”, and one attendee in particular just keeps telling me how happy she is she went.

I love it when I can help the health lightbulb go off for someone. And I love teaching this workshop because gut health is one of those topics that gets me all hot and bothered. I know, crazy! You’re probably thinking I need more of a social life, but as a health and lifestyle, I help people uncover the root cause of issues they are experiencing on a surface level – aka, symptoms (physical or mental) you’d rather not have.

The more I’ve worked at the root cause level, the more I’ve discovered how important it is for you to have a happy belly.

A Happy Belly = Vibrant Health

So the woman who was so happy is also one of the attendees who participated in my CLEAN EATING REBOOT Spring Edition. Since she started her program she’s said over and over how glad she was that she went to the talk, did this program, and loves what she learned about herself.

The single biggest thing she learned was how closely her emotions were tied to her food, and how comfort food was her daily coping mechanism when emotions would start to surface.

For the most part, she eats healthy and didn’t realize this phenomenon was happening until she did my program. Her comfort foods tend to be sugary stuff. Not candy or junk sugar, but pastries, sweetened coffee/tea drinks, bagels, yogurts, and other items that we don’t always think about containing sugar, but it does. And when you’ve had them several times a day, day and after day, our system has been filled with way more sneaky sugar than we realized.

We all eat sugar, our bodies actually need a certain amount of the right sugars, and unless medically necessary, who would want to go the rest of their life without some of the sweet stuff. Not me!

That’s why I like to made homemade popsicles for my kids in the summer. Check out this video for Strawberry Lime Popsicles, so you can go make your own this summer and enjoy the sweet stuff without wreaking havoc on your blood sugar levels or adding things to your belly that would make it unhappy.
