Guilt-free fun may sound like a foreign concept. You might even be looking at the words saying, “I don’t understand what that means.” And that’s okay. I get it. I can struggle with it to.
However, to be vibrant, energized, less stressed, and not having a second thought about your dress size, you have to be having fun. Not just any fun. Guilt-free fun.
What do I mean by this? I mean engaging in self-care and not feeling bad about it.
I know you sometimes avoid self-care because you don’t think you deserve it, or just don’t want a longer to-do list on the other side because you took some “time off” to play. But, this doesn’t get you anywhere except more stressed, eating more comfort foods, and buying the next size up in clothes.
Here are some ideas to make it happen.
Shift your mindset. Start saying you Can and Will. You deserve to take care of yourself and you deserve to have to have some fun! No strings attached.
Schedule your fun. If it’s not on your calendar, it won’t happen. At the start of every month, pick when and what you want to do – GNOs, date nights, massage, whatever strikes your fancy and will have you walking on clouds afterwards.
Look at what you are saying yes to. Look at the first suggestion from last week. Do this and your to-do list will be shorter, so that barrier can be eliminated.
Get support. If you need the kitchen and dinner table cleaned when you come home from a GNO so you can keep your relaxed glow, ask for what you specifically need. Set expectations so your family can support you. They cannot help with what you do not ask for.
Add variety to your fun. Take a DIY class and learn something new, get outside in nature, or go to a restaurant you’ve been waiting to try.
Enjoy every minute of your fun, write it down in your gratitude journal before you go to bed, and bask in the glory. Everyone around you gets more when you take care of yourself.
